Gather for Good #2: Cuts for a Cause
March 9 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
$40 – $50
Gather for Good with Soroptimist International of Davis (SI Davis) for an event that will help the local service club generate awareness about – and funds for – its work empowering women and girls.
In honor of Women’s History Month, Creative Hair & Spa returns for a second year and is joined by Underdog Barbershop for “Cuts for a Cause.” The businesses are along the patio near Nugget Market, at 1520 E. Covell Blvd., suites 1 and 2 in Davis. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The stylists at Creative Hair & Spa and the barbers at Underdog Barbershop donated their time to cut hair and raise money to support SI Davis’ work. At Creative Hair & Spa, choose a haircut, or add a shampoo and blow dry. The suggested donation is $40 for a haircut and at least $50 for all three. Underdog will offer barber cuts for a suggested $40 donation.
This service is available on a walk-in basis only. Customers may drop by and add their name to the waitlist, if there is one. Attendees can get information about Soroptimist, and will also receive a gift bag of salon products donated by Creative Hair.
SI Davis members are grateful for salon owner and fellow member Luz Gomez for making this event possible, as well as stylists Silvia Frost, Farideh Biashad and Karen Duncan. Underdog Barbershop owner Esteban Castro and barbers Oscar Salazar and Saul Vazquez are also generously donating their time on their day off.
Part of a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment, SI Davis members work directly on projects mentoring local high students, providing scholarships, and educating about human trafficking. The club offers cash Live Your Dream Awards to female heads of household seeking education or training, and assists King High students through its Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls program. It also funds high school scholarships. All Gather for Good proceeds benefit SI Davis programs.
