Davis Farmers Market
October 28 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until October 28, 2020
Year-round at Central Park in downtown Davis: shop for what is grown, raised, and made locally at our markets. We are dedicated to bringing farmers right to your table, so we stay open rain or shine.
Walk rows of stalls lined with an array of fruits and vegetables, including certified organic produce, choice meats, chicken, seafood, wine, local eggs and honey. Choose from a variety of fresh-baked goods, plants, flowers and gifts.
The Davis Farmers Market announced Monday it will delay the start of Picnic in the Park until at least May 13.
The decision to postpone the extended Wednesday evening hours is prompted by Gov. Gavin Newsom’s recommendation on Sunday to eliminate public gatherings of more than 50 people for a minimum of eight weeks, to prevent spread of the novel coronavirus. On Monday, President Trump said the same for gatherings of 10 or more.
Meanwhile, the Davis Farmers Market remains open as an essential quick stop for healthy, immune-boosting foods. It will maintain its Winter Market hours of 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. It’s open year-round on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is in Central Park, 301 C St.
As an open-air market that’s accessible for three to five hours twice a week, it’s easier to maintain disinfecting practices. Samples have been eliminated, and additional safety measures are in place. Patrons are encouraged to shop with their eyes first, and maintain safe social distancing from others.
Most food sold at the Davis Farmers Market travels less than 100 miles, and is handled by fewer people. Local farmers and sellers rely on this direct-to-consumer outlet for the core of their income.
