Call to Filipino Artists! Pence Winter Stairway Show

We are excited to announce that the Pence’s stairway exhibit is open for submissions by contemporary local and regional artists in Northern California. The exhibit will take place from December 6-29, 2024, and aims to include Filipino artists (ages 18 & up) whose work showcases or discusses their culture, heritage, or personal identity. This is a free-to-apply, open call, and we invite artists to submit 2D artwork that broadly addresses this theme, shows technical skill, and is conceptually thoughtful.

The deadline to apply is October 25, 2024 by 5 PM. Artists will be notified by November 1 of their acceptance. This stairway exhibit is a special collaboration between Filipino curators Faith Arnett, Rheiana Mirazen Cuevas, and Katharine Schultz.

Application Requirements:

Interested artists can submit images of up to 3 works of art and must include a short artist statement. Please note that accepted artwork must be 2D only, must be framed and ready to hang, and should be 20 x 20″ or under when framed. For any accepted artwork, we are also doing drop-off only (no shipped work please). We also encourage artists to have work for sale, and all sales will result in a 50% commission to the artist and a 50% commission to the Pence. 

October 25: Applications due online by 5 PM

November 1: Notification of acceptance

December 6-29: Stairway exhibit dates

December 13: Reception from 6-9 PM
