
Call to Artists! Slice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art 2025

The Pence’s Slice exhibit, now in its 13th year, is open for submission by California artists working in any medium (except video or sound). This is an ‘open theme’ exhibit, which showcases art that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 36” wide, and three-dimensional work must not exceed 75 lb. Applicants may submit between 1- 3 images of work for review, with an artist statement and resume, at www.callforentry.org, and pay $30 for Pence members ($35 non-Pence members) by May 16th, 9 PM PST. Prizes of $200-400 will be awarded by the juror during the reception.
This year’s juror is Susie Kantor. She is the Associate Curator & Exhibition Department Head at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at UC Davis. Her curatorial projects there include Through Their Eyes: Selections from the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Collection; Phillip Byrne, Beatriz Cortez, Kang Seung Lee, Candice Lin: Entangled Writing; Shiva Ahmadi: Strands of Resilience; Loie Hollowell: Tick Tock Belly Clock; and From Moment to Movement: Picturing Protest in the Kramlich Collection. Previously, she worked at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. She holds an MA in Art History with a focus on 17th century Dutch painting from New York University, Institute of Fine Arts.
