Call to Artists – Slice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art 2022

The Pence Gallery’s Slice exhibit, now in its tenth year, is open to all artists residing in California. This year, artist, writer, and curator Chris Daubert will serve as Juror. The exhibit showcases art that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art.

Work may be in any medium except for video or sound. 2D work must not exceed 36” wide. However, there are no size restrictions for 3D work. Accepted work should be original and completed within the past five years. To apply, submit 1–3 images at www.callforentry.org, and pay an application fee of $30 for Pence members ($35 for nonmembers). The Juror’s will award $400, $300, and $200. The deadline for online entry is 9 pm PST on May 13.

JUROR: CHRIS DAUBERT

Chris Daubert is an artist, writer, and curator. He has exhibited his drawings, paintings, and large multi-media installations locally and nationally for many years. His work has been shown at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and New Langton Arts in San Francisco, The Drawing Center in New York, and The Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, among many other locations. Born in Oakland, he was one of the artists/founders of the nonprofit gallery ProArts. He has also served as the curator of the Richard L. Nelson Gallery at the University of California, Davis, and the Gregory Kondos Gallery at Sacramento City College. He taught Painting and New Media from 2001-17 at Sacramento City College.

June 21-August 17: Exhibition dates, 11:30 am – 5 pm (closed Mondays)

July 8: Reception, 6-9 pm (Awards at 7:30 pm)

August 18-19: Pick up exhibited work, 11:30 am – 4:30 pm
