Artists Reception: Seeing Nature Through Artist Eyes

Dave Kent graduated from Sacramento City College and CSU Sacramento with degrees in art, music, history, and English. He went on to teach ceramics for 27 years at Elk Grove High School and 11 years at Cosumnes River College. Galleries and museums throughout northern California have exhibited his work.

Gay Kent graduated from Sacramento City College and CSU Sacramento. She majored in music and minored in education and home economics. She has taught courses in art, calligraphy, sewing, fiber arts, and graphic design for elementary through high school grade levels.

Dave and Gay met at Sacramento City College in 1964 and married in 1968. One summer, in the 1970s, they attended the University of Florence in Italy and studied Italian and art history. When they retired from teaching in 2003, they began to nurture a serious interest in photography. They are founding members of the Elk Grove Art Center and the Artist Collaborative in Old Sacramento and have served on the boards of the Viewpoint Photographic Art Center, Sacramento; the Sierra Camera Club; and the Photographic Society of America. A love of travel and landscapes inspires their work.

This exhibit runs from April 2 through May 6. There will be a public reception for the artists on Friday, April 8, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Public receptions for local artists will also be held at various venues on that same evening in conjunction with the Davis Downtown 2nd Friday ArtAbout, facebook.com/davisartabout.
