Rita Glazar Bunch is a burgeoning artist based in Davis, California. Between raising her family and a demanding career in business, including nearly 25 years with UC Davis, she found little time for hobbies. While preparing for retirement she felt a need to find a creative outlet. She engaged with various classes and activities but found no passion. She was always interested in colorful abstract art so she began watching YouTube videos on painting shortly before retiring in July 2020. She tried her first painting in January 2021 and was hooked. The timing was fortuitous because painting made her homebound existence during the depths of the pandemic much more rewarding.
Bunch’s first artistic foray involved experimenting with fluid acrylic pour painting on canvas and tile. Paint is mixed or applied directly to the surface and then manipulated using different techniques to create original abstract work. Bunch notes, “This type of painting is an easy way for those new to painting to express themselves and have fun.”
This is Bunch’s first opportunity to exhibit her work. The show’s theme, “Dawning Art”, reflects upon an exciting new stage in her life and her artistic journey.

You can meet Rita Glazer Bunch at her 2nd Friday ArtAbout reception on December 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Paintings, coaster sets and trivets will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be available.
