Kalb’s approach to photography is simple: observe patiently, move quietly, listen with your eyes. He believes that the best photographs are those that eavesdrop on the world and reveal the unseen stories that are in plain sight.
This exhibit is a journey through the heart of Turkey, a land where time weaves its tapestry of culture and landscape. From the ancient ruins whispering stories of bygone civilizations to the vibrant bazaars pulsing with life, these photographs capture the essence of a nation where history and elegance coexist in harmony.
The landscapes, shaped by millennia of natural forces, stand as timeless witnesses to human ingenuity and endurance. The cultural and street scenes celebrate the warmth and traditions of the Turkish people.
Kalb’s tour of Istanbul, Cappadocia, and Turkey’s Turquoise Coast was an invitation to experience sun drenched skies, a translucent sea, and a dreamscape of astounding Greek, Byzantine, and Roman antiquities. Traveling with a dozen fellow adventurers he explored hidden coves, coastal villages, and ancient ruins. Each day felt like a chapter in a novel that you didn’t want to end. It was, without question, the experience of a lifetime.
Kalb currently serves as the President of the Board at Viewpoint Photographic Art Center in Sacramento and volunteers as a photographer for local nonprofit organizations. Kalb lives in Davis with his wife Nancy and their dog Zelda and is grateful for the everyday moments that continue to inspire him.
