Donut Exchange releases a bluegrass anthem to Davis

Album artwork by Emma Ware

Local band, Donut Exchange has a new album out—You Me and the Kitty—featuring a bluegrass anthem to Davis entitled “Back in the Dave“! “We know that it has been a hard year for all. Getting to continue playing with each other in many forms has been a bright spot for us, and are so grateful that we got to spend time in the same city. We want to share some of that hope,” says Obin Sturm of the song’s inspiration.

Donut Exchange is a songwriting project spearheaded by Obin, his sister Anya Sturm, and their friend Emma Ware. Each of its three members have roots in traditional fiddle music. The band lives downtown together, and their housemate Brenden Tull joins on the track for a harmonica solo.

From the chorus: “the winds pick me up and put me down somewhere new time and time again but an old familiar breeze blows through the air tonight I’m back under that Davis sky.”
