Davis native Nyjah Huston brought home bronze Monday at the Paris Olympics for his performance in men’s the skateboarding street final.
The Olympic medal was the first for Huston, who honed his skateboarding skills in the City of Davis.
Sacramento television station KCRA is in Paris covering the Olympics and caught up with Huston, who now lives in Laguna Beach.
“Northern California is where I’m from,” he said in the interview. “I grew up in Davis, California. Every weekend, me and my dad and my brothers would either go street skating in the Sacramento area or the Bay Area.”
“So that’s really where it started for me. The little, little Davis not-so-good skate park,” he said.
Huston told KCRA he would “love to be a part of” the City’s plan to renovate the skatepark.
