A “Greater Davis Gift Card Stimulus Program” is Announced!

A group of Davis residents have joined forces and come up with a new way to support and show love for local businesses this month—a gift card matching program.

While many small businesses have adapted quickly to providing take out or video options for their customers, the ongoing costs to maintain staff, rent, and related operations necessities drastically outweighs whatever revenue these adapted techniques are providing.

The matching program aims to incentivize customers to make purchases from local businesses in the form of gift cards that can be used now or later—especially helpful in the case of any businesses who have had to pause operations—as a means to support them during theses challenging times.

Similar to the successful DDBA Gifting Stimulus Program, this program is intended for those Davis small businesses who aren’t part of the DDBA.

Here’s how to help:

  • For all gift certificates purchased May 1st, 2020 through May 31st 2020, the program will match that purchase, up to $500 per small business. (Just in time for the Big Day of Giving!)
  • The initial five local, small businesses eligible for matching contributions this month are:
  • To support our town’s small businesses, make your gift card purchases directly from the business this month to ensure that these businesses reach their full, matched potential!

If you are interested in contributing to the matching program as a donor, or you would like to nominate another small business for the next round of matching funds (if available), please contact Nils Sorenson at 530-219-4111.
